Happy Birthday Mason

Today is Mason's 2nd birthday! Hard to believe it's been another year, but this year has been fun with my little buddy. He is such a sweet kid. He loves giving kisses and will come up and hug my leg randomly throughout the day. This kid is happy from the moment he wakes up and politely hollers "out pleath" til someone goes and gets him.
This kid loves to eat, but loves to eat really healthy things. He can never get enough fruit, and can down 4 clementines in 1 sitting (more if I'd let him). He enjoys salad and green smoothies and is a vegetarian (unless we're at chick-fil-a). His favorite foods though are waffles and pizza. Every morning when I ask what he wants for breakfast the answer is always "waffle" (I also get the same answer for lunch and dinner) but he doesn't always get what he wants :). Whenever we bring home a box he assumes it's pizza and will run to the box and start saying "mmm mmm mmm." It's hardly ever pizza.
He loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (who doesn't?) and loves to color in his Mickey Mouse coloring book. We love drawing with chalk outside our apartment together and he always makes me draw a "buth" for him (that's a bus for those of you that don't speak Mason).
We have a park 2 block from our apartment and we go there almost 1 a day because Mason LOVES to be outside, he also enjoys playing with everyone else's toys at the park (never his own of course). Mason is already a California kid and enjoys the beach, and is not afraid of the waves at all. When he get's knocked over, he just gets back up and runs into the surf again.
This kid is crazy about his little football, we almost never leave home without it!
I think what he loves most are dogs. He lights up when he sees my grandma's dog (pictured above). He quite good with her and love to drag her on walks and pick her up and hug squeeze her (sorry Noel) :)
We are overjoyed to have this little man in our family, he brings so much laughter and joy into our lives! Happy Birthday Bubs! We love you!

Check in later this week for the cutest camping party you've ever seen!

Thursday, February 14

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are having a love-ly day (too cheesy?). We started out our day with pink heart pancakes or as Mason calls them "cancakes." They were a big hit!

Mason was invited to a little valentine party so I threw the above valentines together yesterday for him to hand out to his little friends. I found the super balls in the party favor section of target for $1 for 12 balls. I thought this was more age appropriate than the other valentines I had already created.

Tonight we will be having our annual pizza picnic but sadly the hubs will be working late so it's just Mason and I this year. What is a pizza picnic you ask? Well, every year on Valentine's Day since we started dating Jon and I have ordered a pizza, laid out blankets and pillows and rented a movie to watch while we chow down. It's sort of our favorite date together!

I hope your day is filled with love and chocolate. Mason'd birthday party is Saturday so check in next week for all the party details! I cannot wait to share!!

Count Down to V-Day

V-Day is almost here! Have you downloaded the Valentine Printables yet? Is Valentine's day a big deal in your house? Do you buy gifts for your significant other? Do you buy gifts for your kids? Growing up we always got a a carmel apple from The Chocolate Factory (apple pie is the best). I'm really interested to hear what your giving/ getting this year for valentines day.
Valentine's day isn't so big in our house, which is good because I married an accountant so I pretty much won't be celebrating on Valentine's day ever. Don't feel bad though, we're celebrating on the 22nd when we go to see WICKED! See I told you not to feel bad.
We are exchanging gifts for Valentine's day, in fact I've been getting some of my favorite treats this last week because Jon didn't want to wait to give them to me. Last night we enjoyed the chocolate almond butter he got me on waffles. It was SO GOOD.
What types of gifts do you give? Is it teddy bears and chocolates? I am a super practical gift giver. If it can't be used more than once, I don't waste my money. For Jon that usually means clothes for practically every holiday. For Mason, it's toys and clothes. This is the first time we're celebrating Valentine's with Mason and I want to make it fun. Any cute little ideas of what to get him? Please share!
P.S. Like my chalkboard? That was my Christmas present from Jon, and I finally hung it this weekend. I love it, but please excuse the art (my chalk pencils were dying).

The Big 0-1

So Mason had an awesome party in California on Saturday. In fact, it was so great we decided to stay for the week! I thought today I would share a few pictures of him from his party and give you a little Mason update and then next week I'll be sure to share all the party details (there will even be a little DIY for you).

Mason is now one and is such a joy! He is way too much fun. He loves to walk now, open drawers and pull EVERYTHING out, take walks, watch Yo Gabba Gabba, and he likes to make us laugh. His new thing is spitting while he has food in his mouth, which he thinks is hilarious! It kind of is

Until his party we hadn't given Mason any sugar, and I think it is easy to see how he feels about it now!

Want some?

Mason loved opening presents and got some pretty sweet stuff!

He received a  ton of books (which I am really excited about) including a quiet book from Auntie Lollie. Cool right?

Mason also discovered his new found love for sword fighting. I am just praying that this doesn't turn into a "thing."
I hope your weekend was fun like ours and I hope this week is even better! See you next Monday!

Confession #4

No, I am not Tyra Banks' biggest fan, that's not what this confession is about!
I saw my first runway show when I was 5 or 6. I loved it! After that I decided I was going to be a model when I grew up. Yup, that was my goal when I was 6, to be a tall, skinny, beautiful model. Well, in Mrs. Tada's 1st grade class we drew little pictures and made a chart of what everyone wanted to be we grew up. There was a long row for teachers, firemen, and I'm sure there were a few astronauts. It was my turn to walk up and stick my picture on the chart.  I proudly put my picture on the chart and as I said "When I grow up I want to be a model" the class started laughing! Laughing, can you believe it? I didn't get it, why were they laughing? I didn't let it get me down. I was even more determined to to become a model after that. As you can tell I achieved my dream. I am a famous, tall, skinny, and utterly gorgeous model. Don't laugh!

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Confession #2

Yes, that is Celine Dion. Yes, I love Celine! She has gotten me through some tough break ups LONG road trips (Celine Dion Hour?). Fortunately my best friend and I both love Celine and would actually spend an hour(s) on road trips listening to ballads like "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," "When I Fall in Love," "Because You Loved Me," and "If You Asked Me To" (that one's for you Ros) but NEVER Titanic (EVER). It saddens me to say that my husband doesn't believe in Celine Dion Hour(s). Road Trip anyone?

Confession #1

My name is Emily and I am a Wheel of Fortune addict. Phew! Feels good to get that off my chest! It's true: I, like millions of elderly in this country, love Wheel of Fortune, and on top of that, I am really good at it. I even had a Wheel of Fortune game that you could play on the TV plus I have a handheld version that's great for travel. Unfortunately we don't have cable so while we're in Idaho I can't watch. But last summer when we were living with my grandma every single night at 7pm we would sit down to watch Wheel, and I enjoyed every blissful second. Someday I will spin that wheel and win "big money" (come on big money)! Anyone want to be my partner for friends week?

Re-evaluating

Sorry for the silence! I did not plan on taking a break from blogging, especially for that long! It's been good though! I've been thinking a lot about my priorities and what I want (mostly career wise). I've got it all figured out now though, and it feels good!
How are you doing on your resolutions? I'm doing surprisingly well! I'm eating healthy and working out (sometimes twice a day). I'm also trying to step away from the computer more and create things by hand. Notice the water color up above? I made that. Can you tell I have no idea what I'm doing? It's been fun trying something new!
I currently am working on a few projects and can't wait to share them with you! One is Mason's 1st birthday invitations, inspired by this cake.
I hope you have an amazing and productive day and I hope you'll stick around because I'm back baby!

Camp Family Christmas Cards

I finally can share our Christmas card with you! I sent them out late last week so I've been waiting 'til people received them to share this with you! I love how they turned out! What do you think?

We decided to go with this card because this will be our last winter in Idaho so we thought it was fitting.

I created a custom backer for us (which you can have too right here). I was inspired by the navy and green in Mason's newborn photos (taken by the amazing Rosalyn).

I also created a wrap around return address label to match (if you want one contact me through my custom page).
I'm proud of this little card and so happy to show off our little family. Thank you so much to those who have supported me in my new little business venture. It's taken a ton of energy and love, so thank you to those who have stuck by me and furthered the new brand!

Thankful...

I have so many things to be thankful for today:

  • that sweet boy you see above
  • my best friend (that would be my husband)
  • my faith
  • amazing family and friends
  • everyone that's supported my new business (thank you!)
  • and I'm grateful that my Heavenly Father has a much better plan for my life than I do
What are you grateful for today?

Have an amazing Thanksgiving. Tell someone why you are grateful for them today!

The New Helmet Hair

Did you know my baby has a helmet? I don't think I've mentioned it. Well, he does. Why you ask? (it's ok EVERYONE does) A few months ago we noticed he had a flat spot on his head that wasn't improving so we had him checked and he was diagnosed with plagiocephaly (sounds scary right? it's not). He's just has to wear a helmet for 23 hours a day and keep it on for 3-5 months. We also have to take him in to get it checked and adjusted every 2 weeks.

People ask if it hurts him or bothers him. We hear most babies cry and fuss the first couple weeks they have it on but our little trooper has seemed to never notice. He in fact likes to play with his helmet, it's his favorite toy (kinda strange I know).

Today we had a those check-up and his head is doing amazing. He has made HUGE improvements in only a month and a half. We are so excited and so proud of our little man's head! Woohoo!

Blupdate

Hello Friends! Sorry I've been away for so long. The baby, hubs, and I moved back to Idaho but took a two week vacation on the way. We started at "the river" where we had loads of fun with my mom's family, then headed to Utah for Aspen grove (which I mentioned before). There we spent a luxurious week (no cooking, no cleaning) with my dad's fam and wore our awesome family reunion t-shirts (more on that later). Over the 2 weeks I've had very minimal internet access and now that we our back in Idaho, we are trying to get the internet hooked up at our apartment. Hopefully that happens soon so I can share what I've worked on lately (one word, stripes)! Anyhoo, for now it's unpacking and trying to get back into a routine.

family picnic

That's right this is a blupdate! So I know I promised a desktop download for June but as you can tell that didn't happen. CRAZY stuff has been happening in my family.

As some of you may know the hubs and I have been living with my grandparents while we are here in CA. Well unexpectedly my grandpa passed away on memorial day, so ever since then it's been a whirl wind.

Needless to say the blog has been my last priority (eventually I'll get it together and post regularly). Eventually I hope to be as cool as this blog (love her) or this blog (want to dress like her), but until then I will post random things at random times.

So on with the blupdate. Baby is now four months and is a mini Houdini! He's changing right before our eyes and some nights he manages to escape out of his baby straight jacket (some call it a swaddler, I call it a straight jacket, but they totally work). We bought him a new friend. His name is Gerald Giraffe, isn't he cute? Baby loves snuggling with Gerald at night and even has a yellow velour track suit to match too (my mom's fault).

Currently Baby enjoys: long walks, giggling, scooting EVERYWHERE, the sound of his own voice (it's cute most of the time), hanging with mom and dad, "barber shop", baths, TV (my grandma has him hooked), and I recently discovered that he likes looking at books (just like his dad).

As for me and hubs, I am enjoying hanging out with Mason and my grandma, as well as the Bachelorette (oh ashley, you're so blind) and I'm LOVING the Voice (we don't do much around here). Hubs is working hard at his internship, likes where he's working and still likes accounting so that's good!

We are loving life here in California and are dreading the day we have to return to Idaho (but excited to spend time with people our own age again). How's your summer so far? I'd love to hear! Any big plans? We have a family reunion coming up that I will share more about later.

welcome to the party

I know, I know, I'm about the last person on earth to get a blog, but here it is...

So a little bit about me, My name is Emily Camp and I'm a graphic designer. I love design, I am obsessed with design! I don't know about you but I can't drive down the street without critiquing  the font on a billboard or think about how much better a sign or logo would have served it's client if the designer had done this or that (it's a curse). I studied graphic design at BYU-Idaho and got my BFA (bachelor of fine arts) in 2009. I have been married to my best friend for a year and a half and now we have the cutest 5 week old little boy you've ever seen. We are currently living in Idaho while the hubby finishes his degree. If you've never been to Idaho, I'll just fill you in, there isn't much design work here. So while I'm figuring out how to be a mom, and trying to be a decent wife, I'm also trying my hand at freelance design.

So why start a blog now? I want a place share the things that i design (like invitations, logos, etc.) and things that inspire me. I also want to share about my journey to becoming a freelance graphic designer. Maybe if some one out there actually reads this and is attempting the same goal, maybe what I share can help you out in some small way and make your journey a tad shorter. And I'm not going to lie, I'll probably share pictures of my kid every once in a while (he's pretty cute).

I fancy design, i hope you will too!
